When I had to retire from the Lakers because I had HIV, I got a chance to play on the Dream Team in the Games. And they love those comeback stories even more. When you can reinvent yourself and become a businessman from a basketball court, people love those stories. What makes these types of sporting documentaries so successful in today's society? I couldn't have thought so big and that has surprised me. Never, not even in my wildest dreams, could I have thought of being known all over the world as I am today, of having won all those championships with the Lakers or of having had the success I have had in business. I never thought I could be where I am today. It is true that I have been surprised by the level at which I have been able to grow. That's what caught my attention, because the other thing, telling my life, my journey, I already knew. I think it's more about that, what I've been surprised by how people feel about me. About how I played basketball, about how I am as a person, as a husband, as a father, as a businessman and all the different facets of my life. I think it's been more discovering what people feel about me. I think I already knew almost everything about myself.

Now that you have decided to share your personal and professional life, what have you discovered about yourself?
